1970s
1970	Dow introduces a complete line of products for automotive applications.
1971	C.B. Branch is elected Dow's president and CEO; Dow annual sales exceed $2 billion.
1972	Dow issues 11-point Global Pollution Control Guidelines. Dow launches Lorsban insecticide.
1973	Dow becomes the first foreign industrial company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Sales exceeds $3 billion.
1974	Dow has 53,300 employees, sales outside U.S. reach 47% of sales.
1975	Dow supplies Styrofoam brand insulation for use in the Alaskan pipeline. August 1975: International Business Principles established.
1976	Zoltan Merszei is named Dow's president and CEO.
1978	Paul F. Oreffice is named Dow's president and CEO.
1979	Theme line "Common Sense/Uncommon Chemistry" appeared on printed ads.
	Late 1970's: Dow developed DOWEX* UPCORE system in Europe which is a self-cleaning technology that helps Dow customers improve water quality while savings money.
