Dow maintains "best in class" rating by Storebrand Socially Responsible Investing
In the recent chemical industry assessment of environmental and social responsible performance, Dow has once again received a “best in class” rating from the Norwegian based socially responsible investing research firm Storebrand SRI. Dow was cited specifically for its establishment of broad sustainability indicators, its innovative industrial ecology ValuePark concept in central Germany and its use of the Global Reporting Initiative framework. Also Dow’s integrated approach to stakeholder engagement and consultation through its community advisory panels, Corporate Environmental Advisory Council, and customer and employee surveys received high marks.
The chemical industry assessment is based on an analysis of 62 companies conducted between April and December of 2004. Only those companies ranking in the top 30 percentile of Storebrands’s environmental and social performance analyses qualify as best in class.
Storebrand is a leading Scandinavian financial services company focused on investment management, pensions, banking, and life and health insurance. It has nearly 20 billion euros in assets under management, with about 4 billion of those assets under socially responsible investment management.
